considered okay -- box assemblies
will depend on the height of the
fence and the type of wire being
• Ensure the size of the end or
corner post is sufficient for the job
(height and thickness), small posts
used for big loads do not work so it
pays not to skimp in this area.
• Ensure the corner or end post is
long enough to have 30 per cent
buried in the ground -- more if it is
sandy. Corner posts and the
assemblies attached to them are
the backbone of your whole fence
so if these fail then chances are the
entire fence will not be too effective.
• If using treated timber posts --
do not notch or drill through them
because they are only surface
treated to about 10 millimetres.
• Recycled plastic posts are now
becoming more widely available
